Ahh i loved the host, despite my hatred of the twilight series. I have to say i found the host so gripping and the story line was pretty good. I would like for there to be a sequel and even if I didn't I'd probably still read it anyway so.But really Stephenie Meyer- I think your excuse for being unsure as to write this book is terribly lame. You're scared to kill people off because the world you write in is a dangerous place? Sorry did I just read that correctly or are my eyes deceiving me? Killing pretend people off is your job!? And you weren't exactly scared about killing off James now were you? Or what's-his-name, James's sidekick!
It really isn't that scary, see look i'm hardly professional and I can easily write an epic story with death. Ok here goes:One day this girl called. Sophia, walks straight into a lamppost, falls back into a hole and dies a painful death. I wasn't scared at all and I killed some one off in a dangerous world full of lampposts and holes within a couple of seconds:O Yeah, I know your jaw has dropped in awe at the immensity of my amazingness:D.
I am Honestly worried. I thought the ending to the host was perfect and now there are going to be sequels? Umm personnally i think she should just leave it alone and NOT make it a movie!! God im tired of them making a movie out of it and screwing the entire thing up!!! Bleh just like twilight saga!! Amazing books not to great movies. I hope that stephanie does a good job on these sequels and TAKES HER TIME!!
She rushed Breaking dawn and thats why i feel it was just 'Thrown together'. But i loved I am Honestly worried. I thought the ending to the host was perfect and now there are going to be sequels? But i loved the host and am hoping the soul and seeker are as good =). Hate to break it to you but this book is NEVER going to happen. She said in 2012 that there MIGHT be a second book then later on confirmed there'll be a sequel LATER in the year. So where can you get this supposed 2012 published copy? Because you can't rely on her to deliver. How long ago did she say I MIGHT continue with midnight sun? And look here, it's 2015 and has this maybe turned into a yes, even a no? So you can keep it in your to-read list and rate it whatever but t Uh guys? And look here, it's 2015 and has this maybe turned into a yes, even a no? So you can keep it in your to-read list and rate it whatever but that's all there is too it.Unless she turns around one day and says 'Its out.' There's no point wasting your time hoping. She should've just shut up and left it as it was there was no need for a sequel. Yeah I can see where it'd go. You know there's still a war against the rebel humans and the souls but damn the Host ending was good enough for me.Fair enough if she planned on carrying out what she promised but to leave your fans down like that, and not give them any notifications or updates on what is going on is just unfair and completely unjust.Very disappointed in her. To come out in 2012? Linksys manual download.
They should really add a 'Maybe' after that. Stephenie is like the most unreliable author out there. Midnight Sun, anyone? Just because she said on Oprah (or where ever) she hoped to do two sequels to her best book, doesn't mean she will. I hate to sound so mean, but I'll believe it when I read it.Edit May 8th, 2012:See this - 'Stephenie Meyer has said that she might write two sequels to The Host.' 'Stephenie Meyer has said that she might write two sequels to The Host.' I nearly jumped of my bed when saw this book on the list of 'Most Exciting Upcoming YA Books' on current site!
Wow - I thought, a continuation of The Host?! How did I miss the announcement?!But after I read about it. Are you serious?!I can agree to this timeline ONLY if the Midnight sun will be finished and published in 2010:))But anyhow, though I agree with some of the comments here that some endings are better off untold, I'm still gonna get my hands on this book as soon as it I nearly jumped of my bed when saw this book on the list of 'Most Exciting Upcoming YA Books' on current site! Thank you to whoever changed it-it's now much more obvious that the entry is a placeholder for a potential book, and not an entry for a book that's already been written.Am I the only one who's calling shenanigans on this book entry? Because there's no ISBN on this entry, there's no description for the book, and there's no publisher name, even though it's supposedly already been published. Also, Amazon doesn't have a link to this book (and let's face it, Amazon would have about a million copies of this thing ready to go the moment the book is released), and there isn't a peep about this on the Barnes and Noble website, nor on the Chapters/Indigo one. And biggest issue of all, there's no mention of this book ANYWHERE on Stephenie Meyer's website. And you'd think that if she'd released a new book, it would show up there if nowhere else.
Just sayin'.While I personally don't care about a sequel to The Host, because I never got into any of Meyer's works, I've got a bad feeling that a lot of fans are being taken for a ride here. I really hope I'm wrong. IF, IF, if, if, if!!!!!If she writes these sequels, keeping in mind she might not. But let's just say she does, OK, I don't know if I'll like them. Everyone kind of got there happy-ending (apart from the fact that I really don't like Wanda's new body, couldn't she have been a little better?). Why ruin those endings by telling us more about their lives. Something tragic is just bound to happen, and I'll be sitting there, probably mourning a favorite character.
Or she'll do something stupid, and h IF, IF, if, if, if!!!!!If she writes these sequels, keeping in mind she might not. But let's just say she does, OK, I don't know if I'll like them. Or she'll do something stupid, and have me shouting at the main character for being stupid. Or she'll just get dam lazy and go down a stupid cliche path.like the lovers get separated.or one of them dies.or some other crap.
And at the end I will be sitting there thinking why oh why did she write a sequel!!!Of course, if the books did come out.I'd have to read them instantly.UPDATE 25/03/15Wow how times flies, I now see we have a blurb and guess what it a prequel-sequel!Great lets forget everyone's character development through The Host, and how the entire book was basically about those humans accepting Wanda, and accepting how the aliens acted. No, no let's go back and look at the same characters before all of that.Honestly sometimes a prequel isn't that bad but you know what, not here. Because really this is the book I wanted to read.
Give me a choice of The Host, and The Seeker (what it appears to ba anyway) of course I would have gone with the The Seeker.it's this- Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.Which at first glance appears to be a weird love triangle (which it kind of was), an alien I won't like (not the case) and a main character called Melanie who I will (didn't atually like her in the beginning). Now maybe this says something about prejuding, because the Host turned out to be a great look in human behavoir. But compared to this- When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie Stryder will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about — Jared, Ian, her brother Jamie and her Uncle Jeb, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world. Yes-it still sounds like way to much romance, and do I really trust Meyer to write a good action scene? But still far more appealing, by instantly putting humans as survivors and aliens as bad guys, which is far easier to relate to and far closer to other horror scenarios. But now I see no appeal to The Seeker. What we get to see humans, characters we like, misdjuge and hate, aliens you taught us to love in the last book? And what is a on-the-run survival story without action?
Which I again must say I don't trust Meyer to write. Or will we be seeing how Melanie met Jared (likely) but how can there be the same tension of living in the caves without everybody being on edge with Wanda around.
