No spamming please, keep it real.if you don't like the answers you get in Fixxit.-Filter. I'm just curious, but does anyone know what the difference between CVK and CVR carbs is? There's lots of information about CVK carbs, but I can't find anything about CVR carbs except a Czeck site that says the mk1 bandits ran better than the mk2 bandits because mk1 used CVKs and mk2 used CVRs.Also, does anyone know what CVK stands for?
The ninja250.org wiki page about CVKs (originally written for the CKV40 used in KLR650s) implies it stands for 'Constant Velocity Kawasaki,' but that doesn't sound right. Is it 'Constant Velocity Keihin?'
Keihin Cr Special Carburetors
One last question: any good books on tuning CVKs?. CV = Constant Velocity.CV K is for Constant Velocity Keihin. CVM = Constant Velocity Mikuni, another designer of carburetors, but you won't really ever see Mikuni carbs called that.CR carbs are Racing Carburetors. Often made by Keihin, these are called CRK carbs.
CVR is just another model of CV Keihin carbs. Mikuni VM carbs are their CR carbs, they use a roundslide.CR carbs are hot shit because they have a slide that is controlled directly by the throttle input, instead of being controlled by the engine speed. They come in flatslide, roundslide, etc., all of these are 'direct slide'., so you can understand that they don't work like the old butterfly carbs or the more modern performance-oriented CR carbs. Throttle input is not directly associated with the amount of fuel or air the engine is getting.here's a link to CR carbs, but you should probably just search around on google and trying to learn more.and a picture of the basic cross section of a direct slide CR-style carb.based on, and checking all the GSF 400 Bandit entries, it appears they all have the same induction system, 4x Mikuni BST32. Which should look a lot like these? Fyi numbers=mm, ergo size.So you see how they have flat top cap, and Part #25 is the slide.
This are CV style carbs.this website called the BST-40 bible should help you service your carbs, since they should be similar, just with some smaller parts.
